Tryouts:
2025-26 tryouts will be on 9/16 and 9/18 from 6:45 PM - 8:45 PM, in the Blue Gym at the RSF. Once you fill out the interest form, you will be added to our email list so we can update you on any additional tryout information.
Dues:
We have annual Dues of $1,000 for the A team and $900 for the B team. These include all coaching salaries, in-state travel, hotels, tournament fees, gear, and hosting our own Cal Classic Tournament in the Fall. The only payment not included in dues are flights to NCVF nationals which take place every year in April somewhere in the continental US. In 2022, Nationals were in Pheonix Arizona, whereas 2023 and 2024 Nationals are in Kansas City, Missouri.
How high level of a team is Cal Club Volleyball?
Cal Women's Club Volleyball competes in a competitive league. There are no prerequisites; however, players typically have at least 2+ years of competitive high school or club experience. Tryout performance and skill determine a player’s ability to make the team, not experience. All years and colleges within UC Berkeley, including international players, graduate, and doctoral students, are welcome to try out.
What league does Cal Women's Club Volleyball compete in?
During our primary season in the spring, the team competes in the Northern California Collegiate Volleyball League - (NCCVLW). In April, the team competes at the National Championships hosted by the National Collegiate Volleyball Federation (NCVF).
How big of a commitment is Cal Women’s Volleyball?
Cal Women's Club Volleyball requires a player to attend two practices a week and tournaments on a regular basis to be considered for a starting position. We are in season second semester with games about every weekend to every other weekend on Saturdays. Cal Women's Volleyball is flexible for players and understands outstanding circumstances in which a player may not be able to attend some practices.
How much travel is implied during the season?
All regional matches and tournaments take place within the greater Northern California area, with the farthest trips being matches in San Luis Obispo and Chico for the A team. The 3-day NCVF National Championships occur during the month of April and may be hosted anywhere in the continental United States.
How many teams does Cal Women’s Volleyball support?
We field two teams every year, one A and one B team.
